The Sun Also Rises
Museum for a film
This project investigates the linguistic nature of space to tell a story, exploiting the interactivity of architecture to draw the narrative into a reciprocity between narrator and viewer — and challenging it with open readings.
A museum is proposed for Wen Jiang’s film The Sun Also Rises, which unfolds through a non-linear narrative of four sub-stories woven between characters, misplaced timelines, and illusions of causality. Taking a structuralist point of view, the design embarks on a pure spatial abstraction of the film’s narrative structure rather than its plots, montaging rooms and routes into a myth of the film itself.
